IDEA Strategy Development

Co-created a 5-year IDEA strategy using TerraNova360’s MEI framework, resulting in inclusive culture transformation and positioning Diabetes Canada as a national equity leader.

Challenge 

Despite its public health mission, Diabetes Canada recognized a disconnect between its equity goals and its internal culture and community impact. Shifting demographics and healthcare disparities, especially among Indigenous, Black, and other racialized Canadians, highlighted the need for a deep, organization-wide transformation. The challenge was to go beyond surface-level commitments and embed IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) principles into every layer and function of the organization.

A long-term shift is now underway: 
We developed a comprehensive 5-year IDEA strategy grounded in the lived experiences of over 700 diverse individuals with diabetes, as well as internal and community stakeholders. 

The strategy, powered by the TerraNova 360MEI™ framework, earned full leadership endorsement, aligning governance, employee engagement, operations, mission and Marcomm with equity principles grounded in global best practices.
